Speaking at the Turkish Railway Summit held at the historical Sirkeci Station, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu touched on the goals they will realize for the 100th anniversary of the Republic with the new investments they will make in railways, and continued his words as follows.

“With our new investments in high-speed trains, high-speed trains and conventional lines, we will increase our railway length from 12 kilometers to 803 kilometers. With the completion of the new high-speed train and high-speed train lines, we will expand the service we provide to 16 percent of our population with our 675-kilometer YHT line. We will increase our current capacity of 1.213 million train-kilometers to 42 million train-kilometers. We will increase the share of railways in land freight transportation from 175 percent to 342 percent and to 5,15 percent in 7.

Karaismailoğlu said that they aim to increase the share of railways in passenger transportation from 2023 percent to 1,3 percent in line with their 3,8 vision.

Speaking about the savings to be achieved by increasing passenger and freight transport in railways, Karaismailoğlu also said that accidents and noise pollution will decrease.
