Practical Training for Tourism Sector Employees

Applied training was provided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in order to improve the professional knowledge and skills of the personnel working in accommodation and catering establishments and to increase the service quality.

The first of the training seminars for tourism sector employees by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Research and Education General Directorate was held at the hotel in Manavgat, Antalya.

Within the scope of the practical training given by the master trainers of the Ministry, sector employees received training on front office, housekeeping, food and beverage service and food production in the 5-day course.

150 trainees who successfully completed the programs organized under the titles of "On the Job Training Courses" and "Personal Development Seminar" were entitled to receive a certificate.

In his speech at the ceremony, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Research and Training General Manager Okan İbiş said that they attach great importance to the non-formal vocational tourism training activities carried out in order to improve the service quality by improving the professional knowledge and skills of the personnel working in accommodation and catering establishments.

Stating that an average of 4 thousand sector employees improve their skills with the training given each year, İbiş said:

“Within the scope of the framework protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education, it is aimed that the students studying in the vocational and technical Anatolian high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the fields of accommodation and travel services, food, beverage services and entertainment services will receive education in hotels and businesses. We aim for these students to graduate by learning at least three foreign languages, to receive scholarships while studying, to be employed after graduation, and to contribute to increasing the qualifications and professional development of our teachers.

The work, which started with 2018 facilities and schools in 5, reached 2021 facilities and 38 schools in 54. As of June 2023, the first graduates, whose number will reach 700 on average, will be brought to the sector, and the protocol will bear its first fruits and the qualified manpower needed in the ongoing process will be brought to the tourism sector.

Latif Sesli, the general manager of the hotel, said that their company started as a small apart hotel in 1992 and continues to contribute to the country's economy and employment with 6 hotels today.

Stating that their hotel was selected among the best in the European market, Sesli emphasized that the biggest share in success is the staff.

After the speeches, the hotel employees who successfully completed the training were presented with their certificates.

Manavgat District Governor Abdulkadir Demir, Provincial Culture and Tourism Deputy Director İlknur Selçuk Köker, Seaden Hotels Board Member Ziya Özden and Ministry trainers also attended the certificate ceremony.
