Social Distance and Wearing Masks are Partially Observed

Covid-39 Perception and Attitude Survey was conducted with 450 headmen in 19 districts. During the days when the curfew was forbidden, most of the residents were obeying the rules and were cautious about taking their own precautions. Children over the age of 65 and under 20 mostly obeyed the imposed prohibitions. While the rules of social distance and wearing masks were partially followed, there was an increase in social assistance applications.

The first results of the Vulnerability Map Project of BİMTAŞ, one of the İBB affiliates, supported by the Istanbul Development Agency, have been announced. Within the scope of the project, a field study titled “COVID-19 Measures in Istanbul through the Eyes of Muhtars: Perception and Attitude Research” was conducted by the Istanbul Statistical Office, which operates within the Istanbul Planning Agency. According to the results of the study, which was completed in cooperation with the IMM Directorate of Headmen, citizen behaviors and access to local services during the pandemic period in Istanbul were evaluated from the eyes of the mukhtars.

Interesting results were obtained in the survey conducted by the Istanbul Statistics Office with 39 headmen in 450 districts. The answers given by the mukhtars to the questions regarding the behavior of the residents of the neighborhood were reflected in the figures as follows:

60,2 percent of the headmen, residents of the neighborhood; 66,7 percent of citizens over the age of 65; 50,5 percent stated that children under 20 complied with the curfew.

Mukhtars;

  • 51,2 percent of them stated that the residents of the neighborhood were cautious about taking their own precautions,
  • 44 percent of them, social distance rules are followed,
  • 49,4 percent of the citizens wear masks on the street,
  • 54 percent, that the COVID-19 rules in the markets are followed,
  • 49,8 percent of them can easily access health services,
  • 37,5 percent of them stated that social distance rules are taken into account in collective activities,
  • 63,4 percent of benefiting from health services,
  • 94,9 percent of the residents of the neighborhood applied for social assistance during the COVID-19 process,
  • 59,6 percent of them stated that controls were implemented effectively during the curfew,
  • 43,4 percent of them stated that necessary criminal action was applied to violations in the neighborhoods,
  • 57,6 percent of them stated that there was a high increase in aid requests during the COVID-19 process,
  • 62,8 percent of them stated that adequate services are provided to disabled people in the neighborhoods,
  • 55,2 percent stated that the average household income of neighborhood residents was normal.
