1 million 726 thousand 684 Kilowatt hours of energy were produced with the solar panels installed in Konya Selçuklu Municipality's service building and Tropical Butterfly Garden. In this way, cutting down of 169 thousand 123 trees was prevented.

Selçuklu Municipality continues its work on energy efficiency and renewable energy systems. The installation is taking place on an area of 45 thousand square meters in Bağrıkurt District, which is the largest investment within the scope of solar power projects. After the project, whose construction continues rapidly, 90 percent of the electricity needs of municipal facilities will be met. The facility, which will produce a total of 5.760.000 kW of electricity annually, will add value to Selçuklu in terms of energy by containing 500 panels of 7 watts.

When the project is completed, a total of 6.847.500 kW of electricity will be produced annually with the panels in the Selçuklu Municipality Butterfly Valley and service building. With the project, the cutting of 85 thousand 600 trees and the emission of 4 thousand 534 tons of CO2 will be prevented. In addition, the electricity produced in the project corresponds to the annual electricity needs of 2 thousand 283 households.

Emphasizing that they continue to work to leave a livable future to new generations with renewable energy projects, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyaşmacı said: “One of the most important values that will be left as a legacy to the future is a clean environment, and as a municipality, we determine our service policy with this vision. We know how valuable energy is today and we do our best to use the available energy in the most efficient way. One of the most important works we do in this regard is our Solar Power Plant Projects. As a municipality, we carry out these works to produce and save our energy and at the same time protect nature. We continued this work in our Butterfly Valley Park by taking the Solar Power Plant project, which we started on the roof of our municipality service building, to the next level. The electricity produced in our municipality service building met 15.5 percent of the electricity needs of our service building. Our panels installed in Butterfly Valley not only met 65% of the electricity needs of our Butterfly Museum last year, but also allow us to sell electricity. We will soon commission our Solar Power Plant project, which we continue to build rapidly in Bağrıkurt District, and thus, 90% of the electricity needs of our municipal facilities will be met and a total of 5 million 760 thousand kW of electricity will be produced annually. While all of our work contributes to the environment, it is also of great importance to leave a more livable environment for our future generations. As a municipality, we will continue to closely follow the technologies brought by the age and use these developments for the benefit of both our district residents and our city. " said.
