The ceremony at Main Memorial Park started with the National Anthem and a moment of silence. Two students from New Jersey Maarif School read poems.
In her speech, Gülay Aydemir, President of the Federation of Turkish American Associations, described the tragedy that took place in Kars Sarıkamış in 1914 and said, "90 thousand of our soldiers froze to death in the mountains of Allahu Ekber. Today is the date when 90 thousand mother's children marched for the sake of the homeland. “We remember these sons of our country with respect and gratitude.” said.
Later, the students moved the participants with the poems they read. Paterson Grand Mosque Imam Erkan Ayçiçek read the Holy Quran and prayed for the Muslim world and the Turkish world, especially for the martyrs and veterans.
