According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the SCT amounts in fuel have increased. The 6 lira increase was reflected in the pump prices as of midnight. 16 July 2023 how much is the gasoline diesel (diesel) prices, how much is the current fuel prices? How much is the liter price of gasoline and the price of diesel fuel, how much is diesel fuel?

The special consumption tax (SCT) on fuel was increased. With the decision, the SCT amounts were increased by 95 liras per liter for diesel and 5 octane gasoline, and 4 liras for LPG.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as a result of the regulations made on the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on fuel, the liter prices of unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel increased significantly. In addition, the SCT amounts of autogas and some other products were increased. These changes took effect from Sunday.

As a result of the regulation, the SCT amount charged over the liter price of unleaded gasoline increased from 2,52 lira to 7,52 lira, and the SCT amount charged over the liter price of diesel fuel increased from 2,05 lira to 7,05 lira. For autogas, an excise tax of 5,77 lira will be taken. The SCT amounts of products such as benzol, tuluol, xyol, solvent naphtha and mineral lubrication products were also increased.

These increases were naturally reflected in fuel prices. In Istanbul, the liter of gasoline increased from 28,05 lira to 34,05 lira, and the liter of diesel increased from 26,32 lira to 32,32 lira. There was an increase of 2,80 TL in the price of autogas. This resulted in more money coming out of the pockets of those who consume fuel.

Here are the gasoline prices and diesel prices tables for Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir:

MOTORINE PRICES

Istanbul 32,26 TL
Ankara 32,80 TL
Izmir 32,96 TL

GASOLINE PRICES

Istanbul 33,97 TL
Ankara 34,48 TL
Izmir 34,59 TL

It is stated that behind the SCT decision, there is a regulation made in order not to reflect the cost increase of fuel products caused by changes in factors such as international oil prices and exchange rates to consumers and to support the fight against inflation. With this regulation, the fixed SCT amounts applied to fuel products have hardly been increased since 2016 and tax burdens have decreased significantly. However, with the current regulation, it is observed that the tax burdens are increased again and the economic balances are tried to be achieved.

Fuel prices are calculated by adding the SCT and Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) share to the duty-free refinery price in Turkey. The duty-free refinery price is determined by the daily CIF Mediterranean product prices published in the Mediterranean-Italian market and the daily dollar rate. According to these price changes, fuel prices can also fluctuate continuously.

As a result, significant increases occurred in gasoline and diesel prices, as the regulations on the SCT amounts on fuel came into effect as of Sunday. These increases will not only affect the fuel costs of consumers, but also create a situation that will affect the economic balances in general. Changes in fuel prices are an important issue that should be followed closely in terms of the country's economy and consumers.
