İBB Sports Club participated in the European Taekwondo Championship held in Manchester, England between 19-22 May with 6 national athletes and returned home with a total of 2 medals, 4 of which were gold. Welcoming and congratulating the successful athletes with their trainers, İmamoğlu said, “We are cheering up when we see you. How many more children and young people out of 16 million are affected by your success, motivate them and include them in sports; He is the most important motivation for me,” he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlumet with an athlete who ranked 19th at the European Taekwondo Championships held in Manchester, England between 22-4 May, and a bronze medalist at the European Badminton Championships held in Madrid, Spain on 25-29 April. European champion taekwondo players Hakan Reçber and Emre Kutalmış Ateşli, silver medalist Görkem Polat and bronze medalist Nafia Kuş and Neslihan Yiğit, who came to the third place in badminton, attended the meeting, which was held at the IMM's service building in Kasımpaşa, together with their trainers. IMM Sports Club President Fatih Keleş and Secretary General Erdem Aslanoğlu did not leave the successful athletes alone in the meeting.

Stating that they left behind a good weekend in the field of sports for Turkey, Keleş told İmamoğlu their reason for coming, “One week ago, Neslihan came third in badminton in Europe. The national team also won 11 medals in Manchester. Our athletes won a total of 2 medals for our country, including 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. We were really proud. They fought well. We wanted to visit you all together”.

İMAMOĞLU: “TARGET: 2036 OLYMPICS”

Expressing his pleasure in meeting with successful athletes, İmamoğlu expressed his feelings with the following words:

“I try to follow the competitions whenever I have the opportunity. I hope you good luck. Our club is an important club that has already proven its existence in these branches from past to present. In this period, we are trying to increase this even more and to diversify it a little bit. We are walking that road, obviously. And we set a goal: the 2036 Olympics. Today's athletes will be the educators of tomorrow. But at the end of the day, we want to experience a nice sports journey together. We are always here, by your side. We are cheered to see you. We would also like to thank our coaches who contributed. Basically, how many more children and young people out of 16 million are affected by your success, motivate them and include them in sports. He is the most important motivation for me. Because you really set an example. You excite them. 'I'll do that too. They say, 'I can do that too. After all, we were motivated like that in the past, when we were children, when we were young. I am glad to have you, glad to be a part of our team; How happy are we.”
