The test drives of the Konya-Karaman phase of the Konya-Karaman-Ulukışla YHT project, the foundations of which were laid in 2014, started. The 102-kilometer line, which will be put into operation by the end of May, will also be freight. Travel time of 1 hour and 15 minutes will be reduced to 35 minutes. TCDD 6th Regional Manager Oğuz Saygılı and Çumra Mayor Recep Candan made observations at Çumra train station, one of the most important stops of the line, to get information about the test drive. Expressing that this huge investment made in Konya region in the field of transportation together with Konya-Karaman high-speed train line is a historical investment for Konya and Çumra, Çumra Mayor Recep Candan talked about the historical importance of Çumra in railway transportation from past to present.

Candan made a statement on the subject; “The work that lasted for about 6 years has paid off today. I hope this project, which will reduce the distance between cities such as Konya - Karaman and Niğde, and provide a more comfortable transportation opportunity to the people of the region, will be beneficial for our country and Konya. Çumra, the legacy of Sultan Abdülhamit Han, is today one of the most important stops of this line, just as it was one of the most important stops of the Hejaz Railway years ago. With this project, which will bring a significant return to Konya and Çumra in freight transportation as well as passenger transportation, the railway connection with Mersin Port will be strengthened and freight from our Organized Industrial Zones will be transferred faster. On behalf of our Çumra, I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Adil Karaismailoğlu, who brought the Konya-Karaman high-speed train line to our region and Çumra.
