Laser hair removal is now one of the most popular methods of getting rid of unwanted hair for those who are tired of painful and harmful practices such as shaving, tweezing or waxing. Laser hair removal is one of the most used cosmetic procedures in the United States. It sends very intense light to the hair follicles and the pigments in the hair follicles absorb the light; This is how your hair starts to fall out. Although laser epilation cologne is effective in delaying hair growth for a long time, a single session is usually not enough to get rid of your hair permanently. This requires multiple laser hair removal sessions and additional sessions may be required for follow-up care. Laser-Haarentfernung Cologne Although it is effective in people with light skin and dark hair, it can also be used successfully in people with other skin types.

Types of laser hair removal

laser hair removal Laser hair removal There are different laser devices used for: ruby laser (694 nm), alexandrite laser (755 nm), diode laser (800 nm), intense pulsed light (IPL) (590-1200 nm), neodymium doped : yttrium aluminum garnet ( Nd:YAG) laser (1064 nm) and light-based devices for home use. The purpose of these devices is to damage the stem cells in the projection and dermal papilla of the hair follicle by targeting the specific chromophore, melanin. Melanin absorbs wavelengths between 600-1100nm, which is the recommended optical window for epilation, by destroying the follicular unit.

Three main mechanisms of action have been proposed for such devices: photothermal destruction, photomechanical damage, and photochemical process.

1.IPL

IPL technology uses a xenon broadband strobe lamp to produce non-coherent light in a spectrum between the visible and near infrared (500-1200nm). To reach the desired chromophore, the filters cut the light emission according to the wavelengths required by the doctor; as a result, such a light source can stimulate more than one chromophore (hemoglobin, melanin, water). Heads usually have a large tip surface that is cooled and gel must be applied to the skin surface during epilation. Clinical endpoints commonly observed with laser hair removal cologne are not commonly observed with IPL. Various studies have shown that IPL is less effective than Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers for long-term results.

2. Nd:YAG

Nd-YAG is a longer wavelength laser source and is the first choice for black patients. According to various comparative studies, Nd:YAG laser has been shown to be less effective than alexandrite and diode lasers and more effective than IPL and ruby lasers in terms of long-term hair removal results.

3. Diode laser

Histological studies have shown a significant reduction in hair density and thickness in skin treated with a longer wavelength (810 nm) diode laser. The long pulse diode is widely used for hair removal due to its efficacy and safety in patients with Fitzpatrick skin phototypes. Such lasers are usually used in motion with a few short pulses and high frequency. Patients generally find this laser more tolerable than long-pulse Nd:YAG.

4. Alexandrite Laser

Long wavelength (1997nm) alexandrite laser has been used effectively for laser hair removal since 755. It penetrates deep into the dermis and can act on both light colored and dark hair, but due to competition with melanin there may be a risk of burns or hypopigmentation leading to hyperpigmentation, especially in low light type patients. To solve this problem, a new photoepilation technology has been proposed recently. A new handpiece with a cooled sapphire cylinder tip is launched, which delivers the laser beam to the patient's skin. The use of this sapphire head significantly reduces energy leaks from the skin, thereby increasing the efficiency of laser transmission like never before. Working with a low dose makes the treatment painless and without unwanted side effects. Repeated passes through the same area smooth the treatment without leaving untreated areas.

5. Ruby Laser

This type of laser is the first laser device used for hair removal by Grossman in 1996. Compared to newer laser and light-based models, the ruby laser is less effective and there are no commercially available long-pulse ruby lasers. Side effects such as hypopigmentation have been reported after use on dark skin.

Why is laser hair removal used?

Laser hair removal is the most widely used method to permanently get rid of unwanted hair. Legs, underarms, upper lip, chin and bikini area are the areas where laser epilation is most frequently used. However, it is possible to apply laser epilation to almost any part of the body except the eyelid or its surroundings. Since hair color and skin type are the most important factors in the success of laser epilation, laser epilation is not recommended for tattooed skin. The basic principle is that the pigment of the skin absorbs light, not the pigment of the feather. The laser should only affect the hair root without damaging the skin. Therefore, the contrast between coat and tan (dark coat and light skin) works best.

There is a higher risk of skin damage if there is little contrast between the fur and skin color. But advances in laser technology have made Cologne laser hair removal an option for people with darker skin. Cologne laser hair removal is less effective on hair colors that do not absorb light well: grays, yellows and whites. However, laser treatment options for light-colored hair continue to be developed.
