Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made inspections at the construction site of the KOP Tunnel, which is still under construction, and received information. Stating that the fight against snow at the KOP crossing in winter increases the maintenance and repair costs, Minister Uraloğlu said, “When the Kop tunnel is completed, our citizens will not be exposed to harsh winter conditions. It will make a comfortable and safe journey," he said.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who participated in the Gümüşhane and Bayburt provinces program of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, examined the work of the KOP Tunnel on site. The KOP Tunnel, of which 6,5 kilometers long double tube was built, has a 4.7 kilometers connection road. The tunnel, which will shorten the existing road by 6,5 km, will provide great convenience to citizens both in safe traffic flow and in harsh winter conditions.

Minister Uraloğlu said, “This project is an important part of the Trabzon-Erzurum-Bingöl-Diyarbakır axis located in the North-South corridor and connects Erzurum to Bayburt. With the completion of the project, the trade and tourism connection of the Eastern Black Sea ports with the Southeast of Trabzon, Rize and Artvin provinces will be established. The KOP crossing was causing great difficulties to the citizens due to the difficult conditions. In addition, snow-fighting and maintenance costs were high. With the Kop tunnel, our citizens will not be exposed to severe winter conditions. He will travel both comfortably and safely.”
