Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is expanding the laundry service that university students benefit from free of charge. After the Metropolitan Municipality of Bornova, it started to provide laundry services near the Katip Çelebi University campus in Çiğli. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who visits the laundry, which will be used by the students who do not have a washing machine, once a week by appointment system. Stating that the laundry room, which has 13 washing machines and two dryers of 30 kilograms and one of 20 kilograms, meets the needs of the students to a large extent, Soyer said, “This study we have implemented for young people is very important. Katip Çelebi University student Batuhan Kayhan said, “Today, even buying detergent is costly. This service is very good for students. We have to constantly change houses here. We also need white goods. Even if the washing machine is second hand, it costs between 500 and 2 thousand liras. Economically, this service is beneficial for us.”
