As the culverts overflowed due to precipitation on the railway line in Adana and Mersin and some parts of the line remained under mud and puddles, the trains remained on the road and the passengers were evacuated.

TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ made a statement that "passenger trains between Adana-Mersin cannot be operated due to flooding due to excessive precipitation".

UNDER THE RAILS ARE EMPTY

The photos shared by the United Transport Workers' Union (BTS) revealed that the disaster was averted. In the photos, it can be seen that the bottom of the tracks has been emptied due to heavy rain. In the train disaster in which 2018 people lost their lives in Çorlu in 25, the rails were emptied due to excessive rainfall. BTS emphasized that at every opportunity, great breakthroughs have been made in the railways, especially high-speed trains, and boasted about this, emphasizing that the closure of the railway lines to traffic with a rain reveals the real truth.

The union criticized

Pointing out that conventional lines were left to their fate while boasting high-speed trains, BTS voiced the following criticisms:

“The point where railway policies have reached today; It is the fact that the lines become unusable with a rain, are damaged and cause the flights to be stopped. The situation has shown once again that the railways are managed with an approach that is far from science and that the managers are not prepared for such precipitation that may be experienced on conventional lines. Due to precipitation; Between the Tarsus-Huzurkent stations, between the Taşkent station and the Karacailyas stop, ballast slippage occurred, the bottom of the sleepers was emptied and even deterioration occurred. While the events reminded us of the Çorlu train accident, it was our consolation that no accident had occurred. We want the necessary investments to be made in conventional lines, planned maintenance and repair works to be carried out and sufficient personnel to be allocated for these in order to operate the railways in a safe and secure manner.”
