El Salvador to Grant Citizenship to 5 Thousand Highly Skilled Foreigners

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele announced over the weekend that he will grant citizenship to 5 thousand highly skilled people coming from abroad, as his latest attempt to revitalize the country's economy with foreign investments.

In his post published on X, Nayib Bukele said that scientists, engineers, doctors, artists and philosophers will be given “full citizen status”, including the right to vote.

El Salvador will also help them relocate by eliminating taxes and tariffs on “moving families and assets” such as equipment, software and intellectual property.

Bukele wrote that the group's contributions will have a major impact on the future of the Central American country.
