With the increase in competition in international markets and the understanding of the importance of customer satisfaction, the rapidly transforming and growing logistics sector in our country deserves attention befitting this dynamism. Now, the prominent ones in the competition; companies and countries that deliver their products to the markets in a faster, safer and more economical way. Being aware of this, thanks to our transportation and communication investments we have made since 2003, our country has managed to outperform its competitors in production and exports, despite the pandemic and crisis. With the right projects we have produced with the mind of the state, we are in the top 2023 in the World Bank's 'Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in 25; We will work harder with the aim of being among the top 2053 countries by 10.”

Karaismailoğlu said, “While we are building today in transportation and communication, we are also planning the future” and that today, 50 percent of the world's population lives in urban areas. Pointing out that Turkey, located in the Middle Corridor of the East-West international historical Silk Road, is at the center of a line stretching from China to London, Karaismailoğlu said, “Since 2002, we have invested 183 billion dollars in our country's transportation and infrastructure. We uncovered the opportunities of this position with us. We are planning an additional investment of 2053 billion dollars until 198. In line with our 2053 vision, we will increase our country's share of trade between Asia and Europe, which exceeds 700 billion dollars today. Considering the international transportation corridors; The Middle Corridor line is a very strong alternative to other transportation corridors in terms of distance and time. A freight en route from China to Europe; In case it prefers the Middle Corridor and Turkey; It can cover a distance of 7 thousand kilometers in 12 days. The same freight, if Russia prefers the Northern Trade Route; It can cross a road of 10 thousand kilometers in at least 20 days. When he travels in the Southern Corridor, he can only cover the 20 thousand kilometer road through the Suez Canal in 45-60 days by ship. In addition, the case of the Ever Given Ship, which blocked the Suez Canal in the south corridor, will be remembered for a long time. The known risk of war and road safety continues in the northern corridor. In any case, it is clear that no corridor can compete with the Middle Corridor, of which we are in the central position. Our intention is clear. We will use this potential to the fullest and in the best way for the benefit of our nation.”
WE ESTABLISH A MULTI-MODEL SYSTEM IN ALL MODES OF TRANSPORTATION

“We know the problems faced by our international transport drivers. We have made an important step towards eliminating the problems especially in the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan line. At the Turkey-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport Summit held in Baku, we formed a Joint Working Group with the suggestion of Turkey. Together with Asia-Europe, we are the bridge country for the surplus value produced in the Black Sea Basin to reach the Mediterranean and the world. Due to this position, we will be a regional base in logistics. In order for Turkey to achieve its export target of 2053 trillion dollars in 1, its logistics infrastructure must be completed and it must become a logistics base in its own region in global trade. While we build land, air, rail and sea routes, which are the lifeblood of trade, we are establishing a multi-model system in all transportation modes. We opened 13,6 different logistics centers with a total capacity of 13 million tons to make Turkey the logistics base of its region. In addition to these centers; The construction of our Sivas-İzmir Kemalpaşa and Rize İyidere logistics centers continues rapidly. Kayseri Bogazkopru, Tekirdag (Çerkezköy) our logistics centers are at the tender stage. Bilecik Logistics Center II. Stage work has been completed. Study projects and plans continue in our logistics centers in Mardin, Şırnak (Habur), Istanbul (European Side), İzmir (Çandarlı), Zonguldak (Filyos). As a result of these studies; We will increase the number of our logistics centers to 26. And also; We will continue our additional new plans in line with the results of the workshops we will hold with a common mind.”

Karaismailoğlu stated that plans were made for 2035 and 2053 instead of daily conflicts and works that save the day, and said that steps have been taken in this direction. “Rehabilitation of the existing logistics centers and bringing them to international standards, development of public-private cooperation for the establishment of new logistics centers, the completion of the legislation of an economical and sustainable railway transportation with increased participation of the private sector, the acceleration of the infrastructures that will carry out multi-modal transportation in international priority corridors, customs control We aim to accelerate the processes and increase their efficiency, to support the Turkish logistics sector with a competent workforce, to focus on R&D and digitalization in the sector, and to establish an automatic information and document sharing system between public units and different authorities and permission authorities.”
WE WILL DOUBLE THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF CARGO HANDLING IN OUR PORTS UNTIL 2053
Emphasizing that Turkey, like all countries in the world, gave an important test in the logistics sector during the pandemic process, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “In 2020-2021, we were faced with high freight prices, raw material supply problem, container, hygiene and protection measures. In this troubled period, we have never stopped our investments in our country. Despite the crisis, we continued production, employment and investment with the measures we took. While the economies of the world's leading countries shrank in the pandemic, Turkey was among the few countries in the world in terms of growth. How happy are we; We passed this exam with a clear conscience. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we took our measures on time with a proactive approach and strategic foresight in this painful period. After the pandemic, we are also reaping the fruits of our efforts. 85% of the cargoes carried around the world in terms of volume and 70% in terms of value are made by seaways. We increased the number of ports from 2002 in 149 to 217. In this process, we increased the number of shipyards from 37 to 84. In 2020, total cargo handling around the world contracted by 3,8 percent. Despite this, our country recorded an increase of 2,6 percent. According to the statistics of 2021; We can see that our country is in a very good position in comparisons with the world. While the amount of containers handled increased by 6 percent in the world compared to the previous year, it increased by 8,3 percent in our country. In the amount of cargo handled, while the world increased by 3,5 percent compared to the previous year, our country reached 6 percent. In the first 5 months of this year, despite the Russia-Ukraine conflict, we increased our cargo handling by 7,2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. By 2053, we will double the total amount of cargo handling at our ports. It is possible to say that the freight movement of the region will increase at the same rate in our transportation model, which we have created in the light of the production-attractive matrices of the region.”
WE HAVE INVESTED 20 BILLION DOLLARS IN RAILWAYS IN THE LAST 37 YEARS
Underlining that the importance of railways in logistics is increasing day by day, Karaismailoğlu said that railways have historical and strategic importance in addition to the economic and social life in these lands. Karaismailoğlu said, “Because we are in the middle corridor of the iron silk road between Asia and Europe, from China to Europe, we have declared a 'mobilization' during our governments for the revival of the railways, which is the rising value in international freight and passenger transportation. It is worth noting that a dollar investment has been made. Emphasizing that the 20 kilometer High Speed Train line has been built, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said, “We have increased our conventional line length by 37 percent to 1432 thousand 6 kilometers. We increased our total railway network to 11 thousand 590 kilometers. Our freight transport by rail, which was 13 million tons in 22, increased by 2020% and reached 34,5 million tons by the end of 10. With the liberalization, we increased the share of the private sector in rail freight transportation to 2021 percent in 38. NORTH MARMARA HIGHWAY IS GOLD NECKLACE TO MARMARA
Expressing that highways also make serious contributions to the logistics sector, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said, “With our country-wide highway investments; We increased our divided road length by 4,5 times and reached 28 kilometers. We doubled our highway length and increased it to 664 thousand 2 kilometers. We increased our tunnels by 3 times and increased them over 633 kilometers. Likewise, we increased the bridge and viaduct length by 13 times. We cross the impassable mountains across the country with tunnels, and deep valleys with bridges and viaducts. The Northern Marmara Highway has become a golden necklace from the north of the Marmara Region to Marmara, where intense industrial, industrial and socio-cultural activities such as Istanbul, Kocaeli and Sakarya are carried out. The Northern Marmara Highway, with a total length of 650 kilometers, also has connections with the existing highway and state road network, such as the Istanbul-Edirne Highway, the Istanbul-Ankara Highway, the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway and the D-2,5 Highway. With the Northern Marmara Highway and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, international transit transports can be made faster without entering the city. Likewise, Osmangazi Bridge and Gebze-İzmir Highway contributed greatly to our region with their safety and comfort. In addition to the number of passengers on our airlines, which we made the 'people's way', we also increased our cargo capacity many times over. Our freight traffic, which was 443 thousand tons in 100; In 2003, it reached 964 million tons with an increase of 2019 percent. Despite the pandemic, the total freight traffic was 324 million tons in 4,1. In 2020, freight traffic increased and approached 2,5 million tons. At the end of May 2021, airline freight traffic increased by 3,4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Our country, which is one of the most important players in its region with its economic growth, strong transportation network and logistics power, will continue to be the center of new investments and cooperations.
WE HAVE SAVED 28 BILLION DOLLARS WITH INVESTMENTS
Karaismailoğlu stated that 7,3 billion hours of travel time were saved annually thanks to the uninterrupted traffic flow that only increases the operational performance of the highways, and said, “Thanks to road safety and shortening of travel time; We saved 76 billion 458 million TL annually, 6 billion 3 million TL from time, 123 billion TL from fuel, 85 billion TL from maintenance and 581 million TL from environmental impacts. In addition to all these, we reduced our emissions by 5 million tons. In addition, thanks to our investments, road safety has increased and we have prevented fatal traffic accidents to a large extent. In this way, an average of 9 citizens survived per year. Thanks to a total investment of 455 billion dollars made in the 2003-2021 period; We contributed 183 billion dollars to national income, 548 trillion 1 billion dollars to production and an average of 138 thousand people per year in employment. In addition, thanks to the investments made, we have saved a total of 994 billion dollars in terms of time, fuel savings and environmental benefits, with an annual average of 22.5 billion dollars on the highway, 1.5 billion dollars on the railway, 2 billion dollars on the seaway, 200 million dollars on the airway and 2 billion dollars on communication.

“Our advanced rail network and road network will have the quality to feed our ports. We will increase the number of cities with high-speed train connections from 8 to 52. We anticipate that the share of railways in transportation will increase over 2029 percent in 11, and 2053 percent in 22. Thus, the share of railways in freight transport will increase 2019 times from 2053 to 7. Again, we aim to increase the share of railways in international freight transportation by 10 times. To express the magnitude of our 2053 vision, the inclusiveness of our investments and future design in numbers; When we come to 5 at the end of our 2053-year plans; We will invest 198 billion dollars for railway, road, sea, air and communication. By 2053, our contribution to the national income will reach 1 trillion dollars, earning more than 5 times the investment value. Our contribution to production, on the other hand, will earn approximately 2 times the investment value with approximately 10 trillion dollars. Our contribution to employment will reach 2053 million people in 28 together with our investments. We are fully preparing Turkey for the future with the state's mind, farsightedness and a planned approach. Our roads, like streams, add vitality to the places they pass and go. Each mode of transportation we develop becomes a lifeline for the investment, employment, production and export of the place where it is made. In addition to rehabilitating our transportation systems, which are a catalyst for the logistics sector, we strive to adopt a more environmentally friendly approach in its operation. We will accelerate our work together with the public-private sector and the NGOs of the sector, according to the targets and work schedules in the Turkey Transport and Logistics Master Plan.”
