TCDD Transportation Inc. Unused wagons belonging to the General Directorate were recycled and converted into ecological wagon houses.

In cooperation with TCDD Transportation, İnönü University, Machinery and Chemical Industry and Arçelik, scrap wagons were recycled and transformed into ecological wagon houses.

The opening ceremony of Hakan Kozan Wagon Houses, which was completed with the support of Koç Holding, was held in the İnönü University ecological campus with the participation of Malatya Governor Ersin Yazıcı, TCDD Transportation Deputy General Manager Şinasi Kazancıoğlu and senior officials.

In order to meet the housing needs of İnönü University healthcare professionals, the "VagonHouse Project" was implemented with an earthquake-resistant ecological neighborhood concept design for academic and administrative staff on the İnönü University campus.

While Malatya was among the provinces that were heavily damaged by the February 6 earthquake, while the damaged buildings were being demolished, the wounds of the earthquake were being healed with public housing.

“TCDD Transportation mobilized for all the needs of earthquake zones”

Şinasi Kazancıoğlu, Deputy General Manager of TCDD Transportation, said: As TCDD Transportation, we ensured that teams were delivered to the earthquake zones with the necessary aid materials, while also transporting earthquake-affected citizens to other provinces. We also offered our passenger wagons, guesthouses and social facilities to the earthquake-affected citizens for their shelter needs. We are extremely happy to contribute to the VagonEv Project. While these wagons will provide safe accommodation for the academic staff of our university, they will also bring a new perspective to the housing need. I hope that such projects will increase in our country, which is in an earthquake zone. “I thank those who contributed,” he said.

Pointing out that the university was also damaged in the earthquake, Tüfenkci said:

“With the efforts of our rector, the slightly damaged buildings are being renovated. We have buildings that are heavily damaged and will be demolished. Most importantly, it is necessary to meet the housing needs of our lecturers, professors and even students living in this city. We would like to thank the Machinery and Chemical Industry, TCDD General Directorate of Transportation, the Arçelik family and the Koç family for their serious support in recycling and recycling scrap wagons. Wagon houses are designed in a way that a family can easily survive. "We provide accommodation areas where our teachers working here can at least stay with peace of mind."
