Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Yüce shared a development that made all Sakarya residents happy. Yüce announced that the maximum level has been exceeded in Sapanca Lake, which has been in an upward trend for a while after the heavy downpour that has been effective in recent days.

“We need to save water”

The rainfall, which negatively affected life in many parts of the city, brought the level of Sapanca Lake, which meets the drinking water needs of nearly 2 million people in both cities, to a point that has not been seen for 3 years. Stating that they hope that if the increase continues, they hope that they will not experience a drought in the next summer, the President called on the citizens, "Let's save water so that our tomorrows will be fresh".

“We have reached the maximum level”

Yüce said, “There has been a pleasing development for Sapanca Lake, the apple of Turkey's eye, which is the biggest natural paradise of Sakarya. Our lake, which fell to 32 meters in winter months and we kept our measures at the highest level, got its share from the last rains. We can say that the heavy rains that affected the city in general provided a 5 cm rise in the lake. Our lake has exceeded the 3 level that we last saw 32.20 years ago. This level is the maximum level for our lake. However, we must continue to save and take precautions. If we do this, our tomorrows will be spacious and bright. Our lake is everything to us," he said.
