The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure continues to take steps to support the country's economy in all areas of transportation. In 2021, a record was broken in the pass documents obtained in road transport. With the additional documents received from 21 different countries, the total number of pass documents exceeded 1.5 million.
According to the written statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the gains from international road transport contributed greatly to exports. The liberalization process with Kyrgyzstan was initiated at the Joint Road Transport Commission (KUKK) meetings conducted by the Transport Services Regulation General Directorate of the Ministry. It was also stipulated that the quota in transit with Hungary was unlimited.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS FROM 21 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
The statement, which stated that the Azerbaijan pass certificate has been increased from 35 thousand to 46 thousand, continued as follows: “18 thousand free documents were obtained from Uzbekistan. In 2021, a record was broken in the pass documents obtained in road transport. With the additional documents received from 21 different countries, the total number of pass documents exceeded 1.5 million. For the first time, additional documents were obtained from Italy, Spain, Finland, Norway and Greece, which are among these countries.”
GREAT STEPS IN TRANSPORT TO EUROPE
Emphasizing that a big step has been taken in transportation to Europe, the statement said, “The KUKK meeting was held with Serbia, one of the most important transit countries in international road transportation to European countries. Historical decisions were taken in road transport between the two countries. With the signed protocol, it has been decided that all transition documents will be free from 2022. By signing a new road transport agreement, the parties took a decision in principle on the liberalization of bilateral and transit transports. The number of annual multiple-entry pass documents determined for Turkish transporters was determined as 25 thousand. In this way, our 25 thousand vehicles had the opportunity to transport an unlimited number of vehicles to and through Serbia with a single document for a year. The fact that the transition documents are free of charge saves transporters and exporters up to a total of 6 million dollars annually.
It was noted in the statement that another country where the KUKK meeting was held was Greece, and it was pointed out that with the protocol signed at the end of the meeting, the quota of bilateral pass documents was increased from 20 thousand to 26 thousand years later, and 13 thousand of them were free of charge. Pointing out that while the quota of transit pass documents was increased from 35 thousand to 40 thousand, half of the documents were determined as free quota, the statement said, “In addition, it has been decided that 2021 thousand additional documents received in 11 will not be deducted from the 2022 quota. While the free transit pass document was obtained from Greece for the first time, the free documents to be received in both bilateral and bilateral transportation provided the sector with the opportunity to save 2.3 million Euros.
