Farewell to Fossil Fuels: Clean Energy Revolution in China!

According to data announced by the China Electricity Council (CEC), as of the end of February 2024, the electricity production capacity provided by non-fossil energy sources in the country reached 1 billion 620 million kilowatts. This accounts for 54,6 percent of the country's total electricity generation capacity. The electricity production capacity obtained especially from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar was recorded as 1 billion 100 million kilowatts.

The International Energy Agency (AIE) also announced that China ranked first in renewable energy investments in the world in 2023. IEA President Fatih Birol stated that China is the world leader in clean energy technologies in his interview with the China Media Group during the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Dubai.

Birol said, “China is a leader in clean energy technologies. China is also a world leader in solar and wind energy, electric vehicles, batteries, hydroelectricity and new nuclear energy. China not only produces clean energy within the country, but also makes these technologies accessible worldwide by reducing costs through technological innovations. "This contributes to the clean energy development of other countries," he said.
