Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced the data for the first 2023 months of 4. Compared to the same period of the previous year, total production increased by 17 percent and amounted to 479 thousand 330 units.
Automobile production, which increased by 4 percent compared to the first four months of the previous year, reached 29 thousand 295 units. Together with the tractor production, the total production increased to 688 thousand 499 units. In the commercial vehicle group, production increased by 927 percent in the first 4 months of the year, and by 2 percent in the heavy commercial vehicle group, while it was parallel to the previous year in the light commercial vehicle group. Compared to the first 18 months of 2022, the commercial vehicle market increased by 4 percent, the heavy commercial vehicle market by 62 percent and the light commercial vehicle market by 56 percent. In the first 63 months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, total automotive exports increased by 4 percent on the basis of units, while the increase in automobile exports was 9 percent. In this period, total exports amounted to 22 thousand 329 units, while automobile exports amounted to 240 thousand 205 units. In the 398-month period of 2023, the total market increased by 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and closed with 57 thousand 350 units. During this period, the automobile market also increased by 78 percent and reached 56 thousand 252 units.
Automotive Industry Association (OSD), which is the umbrella organization of the sector with its 13 members that steer the Turkish automotive industry, has announced the production and export numbers and market data for the January-April period of 2023. Accordingly, in the first four months of the year, total automotive production increased by 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 17 thousand 479 units. Automobile production, on the other hand, increased by 330 percent to 29 thousand 295 units. Together with the tractor production, the total production amounted to 688 thousand 499 units. In the first four months of the year, commercial vehicle production increased by 927 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In this period, production in the heavy commercial vehicle group increased by 2 percent, while the production in the light commercial vehicle group remained in line with the previous year. During this period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 18 percent. On the basis of vehicle group, capacity utilization rates were 73 percent in light vehicles (cars + light commercial vehicles), 73 percent in the truck group, 88 percent in the bus-midibus group, and 45 percent in the tractor.
Exports increased by 12 percent and reached 11,6 billion dollars!
In the first four months of the year, automotive exports increased by 9 percent on a unit basis compared to the same period of the previous year, and amounted to 329 thousand 240 units. In this period, automobile exports increased by 22 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while commercial vehicle exports decreased by 8 percent. Tractor exports, on the other hand, increased by 2022 percent compared to the same period of 14 and amounted to 6 thousand 910 units. According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the total automotive industry exports maintained its first place in the sectoral export ranking with 2023 percent in the first four months of 14. According to Uludag Exporters' Association (UIB) data, total automotive exports in the first four months increased by 2022 percent compared to the same period of 12 and reached 11,6 billion dollars. On a Euro basis, it increased by 16 percent to 10,7 billion Euros. In this period, exports of the main industry increased by 15 percent and the exports of the supply industry increased by 8 percent in dollar terms.
The total market has exceeded 350 thousand units in four months!
In the first four months of 2023, the total market increased by 57 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 350 thousand 78 units. In this period, the automobile market also increased by 56 percent and reached 252 thousand 819 units. Looking at the commercial vehicle market, in the first four months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, 62% growth was achieved in the total commercial vehicle market, 56% in the heavy commercial vehicle market and 63% in the light commercial vehicle market. In the January-April period of 2023, the share of domestic vehicles in automobile sales was 35 percent and the share of domestic vehicles in the light commercial vehicle market was 52 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
