The Center for Combating Disinformation within the Directorate of Communications noted that there is absolutely no report that the dollar will be 15 TL in 40 days.
Pointing out that in the false news in question, the Market Participants Survey published by the Central Bank every month is subject to manipulative disinformation, the statement said: “Every month, the Central Bank asks market participants from the financial and real sectors about their expectations regarding basic macroeconomic indicators and shares its results with the public. Describing this survey, which was shared with the public, as a "leaked document" reveals manipulation. Survey results only reflect the expectations of participants and show monthly changes in market expectations. The Market Participants Survey does not include the Central Bank's corporate expectations and forecasts. In the March 15 survey of the Market Participants Survey published on March 2024, 2024, market participants' US Dollar exchange rate expectation at the end of March is 32,63 TL.”
In the statement, the Capital Markets Board (CMB) and the Central Bank, due to the conscious action to disrupt the market regarding the news in question, are prohibited from publicly disseminating misleading information to the public. While it was stated that a criminal complaint would be filed under Article 217/A, the public was asked not to trust false news that was deliberately served for manipulative purposes.
