
The Ministry of Health announced that at the end of the seventh week of the “Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy” campaign implemented throughout the country, the height and weight measurements of approximately 47,1 million people, 52,9 percent of whom were men and 6,5 percent of whom were women, were taken.

As a result of the measurements, the body mass index of 3 people was found to be above the "normal" weight range. Of the people whose measurements were taken, approximately 792 percent were "underweight", 730 percent were "normal", 6 percent were overweight and 33 percent were in the "obese" range; it was determined that the "overweight" rate was high in men and the "obesity" rate was high in women.
The Ministry of Health continues its “Learn Your Ideal Weight, Live Healthy” campaign, which it launched to raise public awareness about the risks of being “overweight”.
In the seventh week of the campaign, covering June 21-27, the participation record was renewed. A total of 628 people, 161 of whom were male and 708 of whom were female, had their height and weight measured.
As a result of the measurements, the body mass index (BMI) of the people participating in the campaign was determined. In the analysis made based on this data, it was seen that 1 percent of the 336 million 589 thousand 6,7 people participating in the campaign were underweight (BMI<18,5), 32,9 percent were normal (18,5≤BMI<25,0), 35,4 percent were overweight (25,0≤BMI<30,0) and 25 percent were obese (30,0≤BMI).
In the seventh week of the campaign, a total of 429 people, 202 of whom were women and 378 were men, whose body mass index was calculated to be above the "normal" weight range, were directed to primary health care institutions to receive free nutrition and physical activity consultancy services, in line with the information provided and their own preferences.
Data obtained during the seven weeks of the campaign revealed that the overweight rate in men was 40,3 percent, higher than the overweight rate in women at 30,9 percent, while the obesity rate in women was 30,4 percent, higher than the obesity rate in men at 21,5 percent.
