Karsan, which has signed a project with RATP, one of the public transport operators operating in Paris, the capital of France, will carry passengers on a route of approximately 8 kilometers on line 393 in Paris starting from September with the 12-meter Autonomous e-ATAK.
Karsan continues to attract attention with its innovative technologies. Karsan, one of the rare brands in the sector that can offer three new generation technologies at once: electric, hydrogen and autonomous, is preparing to become the star of another very important project with the Autonomous e-ATAK.
The world’s first mass-production Level-4 mass transportation vehicle capable of operating without a driver on a planned route, the Autonomous e-ATAK, is undertaking an important project with RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens), one of the most important public transportation operators operating in Paris, the capital of France. Within the scope of this collaboration, Karsan’s 8-meter Autonomous e-ATAK vehicle will start carrying passengers on the approximately 393-kilometer route on Paris’s line 2025 (Sucy – Bonneuil RER / Thiais – Carrefour de la Résistance) in September 12.
The vehicle will provide service in real city traffic conditions. Karsan CEO Okan Baş, who stated that Karsan will take its leadership in the field of autonomous driving technologies one step further with this new project, said, “Our vehicle is currently being tested by France’s independent testing and certification organization UTAC (Union Technique de l’Automobile du motocycle et du Cycle) in its own facilities. The tests conducted by UTAC indicate that Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK is safe, smart and operationally ready at international standards. These dynamic and static test processes will continue until the end of August and after the tests are successfully completed, Autonomous e-ATAK will start carrying passengers and our vehicle will actively provide passenger transportation services for 6 months.”
Stating that the tests were going very well, Okan Baş said:
“RATP, one of the largest public transport operators in Europe, undertakes the task of operating metro, bus, tram and suburban train lines in and around Paris. Serving millions of passengers daily, RATP is a reference operator in Europe in terms of implementing sustainable and innovative transport solutions. Therefore, as Karsan, our cooperation with RATP further strengthens our brand’s position in Europe in terms of reliability and technological competence.”
Baş pointed out that this collaboration is a strong move for Karsan not only in terms of technology but also in terms of its role in Europe's mobility transformation, and said:
“The fact that a global reference operator like RATP has chosen Autonomous e-ATAK is proof of the point that Karsan’s autonomous mobility solutions have reached and that they are accepted in the global market. Autonomous e-ATAK, which we developed with our technology partner ADASTEC’s Level-4 autonomous driving software, has already been used in Europe since 2022 and is a proven vehicle. This project we have carried out with RATP is a new milestone that contributes to the future of sustainable and smart mobility. With this collaboration, Karsan will be a strong reflection of not only its technological development but also its vision of leading Europe’s mobility transformation.”
