Istanbul Airport is the Busiest in Europe

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, drawing attention to the fact that Istanbul Airport is once again the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 553 daily flights, said, “Our Antalya Airport is in 996th place in the same list with an average of 10 daily flights.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the European Aviation Outlook Report of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) dated July 3. Minister Uraloğlu reported that in the report covering the period of June 23-29, 2025, Türkiye ranked 3th among the countries with the busiest traffic volume in Europe with an average of 992 flights per day.

“The Average Daily Number of Flights Increased by 19 Percent Compared to the Pre-Covid-15 Period”

Stating that Türkiye has left countries such as Greece, the Netherlands and Poland behind, Uraloğlu made the following statements in his statement:

“Turkey is no longer just a transit country in air transportation, but has become a regional and global hub. The average daily number of flights in our country has increased by 19 percent compared to the pre-COVID-15 period. With a steady increase, our country has become one of the top 19 countries that have reached the pre-COVID-6 level.”

Uraloğlu, who drew attention to the fact that Istanbul Airport is once again the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 553 daily flights, said, “Istanbul Airport left Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt and London Heathrow airports behind. Our Antalya Airport ranked 996th on the same list with an average of 10 daily flights.”

Uraloğlu also pointed out that Istanbul Airport, which hosted an average of 25 daily aircraft departures between 23-29 June 2025, ranks 773th in the world among the 7 global airports.
