Ankara Metropolitan Municipality invests in education, youth and the future with the opportunities it provides, especially to university students. The basic needs of university students who are going through difficult times economically are met by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), which continues its practices without slowing down with the goal of being a “student-friendly city”, continues to support all young people studying in the capital, especially university students.
The Social Services Department, which provides support to meet students' basic needs such as nutrition and shelter, also increases the quality of life of young people with its Libraries and Clothing Washing Centers.

Social Facilities and Accommodation Services Branch Manager Esin Mızrak stated that they carry out social municipality not only with a service understanding but also with a sense of responsibility, and said, “We set out on this path by saying that the university should be studied in Ankara, and we always try to support our students studying in the capital by meeting their basic needs such as accommodation, food and cleaning. With the services provided, we aim to make the lives of our young people studying in the capital easier and to make them feel safe and valuable. We continue to be by the side of our students at all times.”
HOUSING SUPPORT FOR MORE THAN 13 THOUSAND STUDENTS
In order to support students facing a dormitory crisis, the accommodation problems of students have been resolved by hosting 2021 thousand university students in social facilities since 13. Free accommodation services are currently being provided to 500 students in need who cannot be accommodated in KYK dormitories.
In this context, students' basic needs such as daily meals, internet, laundry and ironing are met.
HEALTHY NUTRITION FOR A HEALTHY TOMORROW
In order to support students' healthy nutrition, hot soup is distributed to an average of 3 thousand students every morning at Gazi, Hacettepe and OSTİM Technical Universities.
Supporting the budgets of university students who have to struggle with economic difficulties, ABB is also implementing new projects to ensure that they can eat healthy. With the “Youth Tables” project, students can access 4 types of hot meals free of charge. With the project, which has attracted great interest since the first day, young people can both ease their budgets and enjoy the home-cooked meals they have been longing for.
Free meals are provided at three locations in total: Gazi Youth Table (Emniyet Mah. Silahtar Street No:36 Yenimahalle), Sıhhiye Youth Table (Sıhhiye Multi-Storey Car Park 1st floor) and 100th Year Youth Table (İzmir-2 Cad. Kızılay).
Students can benefit from this service by confirming that they are students through the QR code system with their Turkish ID card and student ID. With the application, over 100 thousand meal services have been provided to date.
100TH YEAR YOUTH LIBRARY IS WAITING FOR STUDENTS
Acting on the principle of equal opportunity in education, ABB continues to bring new and modern libraries to the city.
In order to facilitate young people's access to information, the "100th Year Youth Library" was opened on September 26, 2024. The facility, located in the city center on Kızılay İzmir-2 Street, offers many facilities, including a barrier-free and digital library, study areas, and a cafeteria.
Designed for multi-purpose use and consisting of 6 floors, the library includes a barrier-free library for students with special needs, as well as study areas that can be easily used by wheelchair users, a library and common areas.
Offering a modern and comfortable working environment, the library provides free service and increases the number of active members every day.
FREE CLOTHING WASHING SERVICE FOR STUDENTS
ABB, which also carries out projects to make students' lives easier, is also increasing the number of its Clothes Washing Centers.
With the Clothes Washing Centers, which were implemented with the understanding of social municipality, free laundry, drying and ironing services are provided to university students.
In 4 different centers that operate with a membership system, students can benefit from the service by simply dropping off their laundry without bringing any cleaning materials.
