Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, 48, lost his life in the hospital where he was receiving treatment as a result of an electric shock that occurred in the pool at his home. Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced the development on his social media account.
Incident and Treatment Process
Ferdi Zeyrek was seriously injured when he was electrocuted while responding to a malfunction in the pool engine room in his garden on the night of June 6. Zeyrek, whose heart stopped at the scene, was taken to hospital after receiving first aid.
It was learned that Zeyrek, who had been receiving intensive care treatment for approximately three days, was connected to an ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) device to support his heart and lung functions, and was also receiving dialysis treatment due to kidney failure. Despite all interventions, Zeyrek lost his fight for life.

The first statement from the Republican People's Party (CHP) regarding the news of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek's passing came from CHP's Burhanettin Bulut. Bulut expressed his deep sorrow in a post on his social media account and used the following expressions: "Our hearts are in flames... We have lost a very valuable friend, companion, our President Ferdi. His smile, sincerity, devotion... He left deep marks on all of us. He was a value that will never be replaced by our Manisa, our party, and our country. I wish patience to his family, loved ones, Manisa, and all of us. President Ferdi, we will never forget you. Rest in peace..."
Ferdi Zeyrek was elected as the Mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality in the local elections of March 31, 2024. His death caused deep sadness in Manisa and the political community.
