Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that museums and historical sites across Turkey were flooded with visitors during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Noting that a total of 633 people visited cultural sites during the Eid al-Adha holiday, Ersoy stated that history was encountered all over the country.
The most popular historical site among visitors was the Ephesus Ancient City in Izmir. Ephesus was visited by 56 people. Hierapolis-Pamukkale in Denizli came in second with 423 people, Göreme in Nevşehir was visited by 53.363 people, Göbeklitepe in Şanlıurfa by 24 people, and Paşabağlar by 483 people.
Ersoy emphasized that many people, from those who welcomed the sunrise at Nemrut to those who watched the sunset at Ephesus, met with cultural heritage. Minister Ersoy, who said, “History came to life with every step,” thanked all visitors and wished to meet on many more culturally filled holidays.
