Transition from Ice Rink to Skating in Bornova

The ground of the Ice Sports Hall located in the Âşık Veysel Recreation Area in Bornova has been renewed in order to provide services in different sports branches in the summer season. The first course opened within the scope of the plan will be roller skating training.

The Youth and Sports Services Department, which continues its work in line with the “Sports Capital Izmir” goal of Dr. Cemil Tugay, President of the Turkish Healthy Cities Association and Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, continues to take steps so that Izmir residents can benefit from all facilities more efficiently throughout the year. In this context, the floor of the Ice Sports Hall, which cannot be used as an ice rink due to the end of the season, was laid with removable parquet. Thus, the hall will be used for multiple purposes throughout the summer season.

800 square meters of area was gained
Thanks to the ground transformation process carried out for the first time, the city has gained an additional 800 square meters of sports area throughout the summer. Thus, the Ice Sports Hall will be ready for courses and trainings to be given to citizens, as well as competitions and events that can be organized by federations from all branches throughout the season. The hall will also be able to host large meetings and congresses for institutions and organizations.
