
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced that applications for the “Call for Map and Navigation Application Development Projects” have started within the scope of the Pre-Competition Cooperation Program.
Minister Kacır, in his post on his social media account, stated that they will carry national solutions in map and navigation applications to advanced levels with the aim of strengthening digital sovereignty, and made the following statements:
“We are launching the ‘Call for Map and Navigation Application Development Projects’ with the aim of developing national solutions and paving the way for innovative applications in the strategically important location-based services field. Within the scope of the call, we aim to develop high-performance, user-friendly and artificial intelligence-supported navigation applications with innovative features that are suitable for the needs of users in our country, can communicate with 112, calculate carbon footprint, and provide real-time traffic data. I invite our investors and sector stakeholders to the program we have launched with the aim of strengthening our digital sovereignty, strengthening the domestic ecosystem in the field of maps and navigation, and increasing our international competitiveness.”
The Call for Map and Navigation Application Development Projects aims to increase international competitiveness and create a brand in the map and navigation application market, provide access to inclusive, equal, up-to-date, uninterrupted and independent navigation application services customized according to national needs, support local developers in application development, data analytics and infrastructure installation, develop and export strategic local and national technologies that will reduce external dependency, and create customized navigation systems for areas such as the defense industry, security forces and public services.
