Kumru Dam in Ordu Solves Rural Water Needs in the Long Term

Kumru Dam, which was started to increase water resources in Kumru district of Ordu and to meet the drinking water needs of rural areas in the long term, has been completed. The dam, where water retention is carried out, will be able to meet the drinking water needs of 33 neighborhoods in the district until 2070.

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler stated that the Kumru Dam, which they built in partnership with the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), has been completed and that they will turn the region into a center of attraction after the arrangement and park works to be carried out around the dam.

President Güler said, “Kumru Dam, which is 41 meters high from the foundation and built as a concrete-coated rockfill type, was built with an annual drinking water supply capacity of 2,8 million cubic meters. This dam, which will meet the drinking and utility water needs of 33 neighborhoods including Kumru district center until 2070, will also make a great contribution to the efficient use of water resources in the region. With this investment, we have ensured the long-term water security of Kumru by considering not only today’s needs but also the needs of the future. We wish this great work to be beneficial for our Ordu, Kumru and our valuable fellow citizens, and we promise that we will continue to serve you with many projects.”
