Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues its work on the City Hospital-New Industrial Site Tram Line, which is the first phase of the Stadium-City Hospital Tram Line Project.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay said that they are meticulously continuing their rail system investments in order to make urban transportation more comfortable, faster and more environmentally friendly.
Stating that the works on the first stage of the City Hospital - Stadium Rail System Line, the City Hospital - New Industry Line, continue uninterruptedly, President Altay said, “This stage, which will have a total line length of 11.1 kilometers, will provide transportation between the City Hospital and the New Industrial Site, facilitating access to health services and providing significant convenience in transportation to the industrial zone. We are building this with our own resources.”
NEW LINE WILL BRING SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC VITALITY TO THE REGION
President Altay stated that the aim is to bring social and economic vitality to the region with the stations to be built along the line and said, “We have currently completed 30 percent of the work. Infrastructure work, displacement work, and rail laying operations are ongoing. As the second stage, the 10-kilometer section starting from Aslım Street and extending to TÜMOSAN Junction, Aksaray Junction, Dr. Sadık Ahmet Street, Halil Ürün Street and the New Stadium area was put out to tender by our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments on May 30. We hope to share good news from our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with the people of Konya. We plan to complete this line by 2027 and bring a new 21.1-kilometer line to our city. Thus, we will have a new line starting from the stadium and ending at Alaaddin.”

Reminding that the total length of the rail system line currently used in Konya is 27 kilometers, Mayor Altay said, “KONYARAY is 23 kilometers, and the City Hospital-New Stadium Line is 21.1 kilometers. In other words, we are almost putting two next to one with just these two projects. We are also continuing our work on a line starting from Ahmet Özcan-Fatih Street-Çeçenistan Street-Ömer Halis Demir Street and the Beltway. This huge transportation investment will further strengthen the public transportation infrastructure of Konya. I would like to thank our Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu for his contributions throughout this entire process.”
