Kayseri's New Sports and Tourism Route: Tomarza Canoe Center

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, together with Governor Gökmen Çiçek, examined the Canoe Track and Picnic Area under construction in Tomarza Böke Neighborhood. Mayor Büyükkılıç said that the project, which stands out with its structure intertwined with nature and suitable for water sports, will bring a new breath to Kayseri's sports and tourism vision.

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç visited the Tomarza Böke Canoe Track and Picnic Area, which was implemented with the cooperation of the Kayseri Governorship and the Metropolitan Municipality, together with Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek, and examined the work carried out on site. Tomarza District Governor Ali Buzkaya, Tomarza Mayor Osman Koç, and Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ali İhsan Kabakcı also attended the visit.

Governor Çiçek and Mayor Büyükkılıç received technical information about the project from Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ufuk Sekmen and Head of Survey Projects Department Murat Baltacı.

Drawing attention to the nature of Tomarza and the potential of the Zamantı River, Büyükkılıç stated that this area, which will be an ideal center for activities intertwined with nature, especially canoeing, will appeal to both the people of the district and visitors to the city.

Mayor Büyükkılıç, who came together with the citizens while examining the works in the region, wished the women who were cooking gözleme (a type of flatbread) good luck and created warm and friendly images by cooking gözleme.

Mayor Büyükkılıç, who put on life jackets and took a boat trip along the Zamantı River with the magnificent view together with Governor Çiçek, emphasized once again how valuable the project is with this trip made amidst natural beauties.

Mayor Büyükkılıç wished that the Tomarza Canoe Center would be beneficial to all nature and sports enthusiasts.

The project, carried out in cooperation with Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality and the Governorship, aims to spread sports to the grassroots and contribute to the regional development of Kayseri.

Kayseri, which was selected as the “Best Sports City of the Year” among the 2024 European Sports Cities and received the “Golden Flag” award, is gaining more strength with visionary projects such as the Tomarza Canoe Route. The canoe route, which will extend along the Zamantı River, will bring together sports and nature tourism.
