
The 4th Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey is implementing the “Rear Service Area and Capacity Increase Project” worth approximately 906 billion 48 million TL in the Karasu Port located in the Karasu district of Sakarya. The construction of numerous structures is planned in the newly created back service areas. These will include open and closed storage areas, a terminal building, a semi-open shed, a transformer and additional public buildings. The pilotage service building, the Coast Guard Command building and the Port Authority building were also included in the project within this scope. In addition, maneuvering, loading and unloading stations will be established in accordance with the railway connection.

All investments to be made in the port area in line with environmental sustainability principles planned. Sea filling, dredging activities and infrastructure construction will be carried out within the scope of EIA processes. At the end of the project, Karasu will be a port that grows not only with its physical capacity but also with its operational efficiency and diversity.
Once the investment is completed, Karasu Port will become an integrated logistics base not only with its cargo handling capacity but also with logistics, customs and public services. It is aimed to provide significant advantages in terms of speed, cost and security in international trade with modern systems integrated into the port infrastructure.
After the completion of this investment, the economic vitality in the region will also increase. In addition to the growth in import and export volumes, the project will also contribute to employment and make the Karasu district of Sakarya more visible in Türkiye's foreign trade network.
