Good News of High-Speed ​​Train for 8 Million People: Foundation of Delice-Çorum Line is Being Laid!

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Delice-Çorum stage of the Ankara-Kırıkkale-Çorum-Samsun High-Speed ​​Railway Project will be held on Saturday. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the line in question constitutes an important link in the north-south high-speed railway corridor and that approximately 8 million more people will directly benefit from the comfort of high-speed trains.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the official groundbreaking ceremony of the 120-kilometer Delice-Çorum stage of the Ankara-Kırıkkale-Çorum-Samsun High-Speed ​​Railway Project will be held on Saturday. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the project is a strategic line not only regionally but also nationally, and made the following statements in his statement:

“We continue to strengthen the railway backbone that connects our country from east to west and north to south. The 120-kilometer Delice-Çorum stage that we will implement within the scope of the railway project to be built on the Kırıkkale-Çorum-Merzifon-Samsun route will play an important role in connecting the Black Sea to Central Anatolia and Mediterranean ports via high-speed train lines.”

Minister Uraloğlu, who also stated that the Ankara-Kırıkkale-Çorum-Samsun High-Speed ​​Railway Project will be integrated with the Samsun-Sarp High-Speed ​​Railway Project, stated that the line constitutes an important link in the north-south high-speed railway corridor that will extend from Samsun-Çorum-Delice-Kırşehir-Aksaray-Ulukışla-Yenice to Mersin Port. Minister Uraloğlu continued his words as follows:

“We are creating a high-capacity, fast and environmentally friendly transportation network between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. As part of this network, starting from Artvin, the provinces of Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Amasya and Çorum will be included in our national high-speed railway network centered in Ankara. Kırşehir, Aksaray, Niğde and Mersin will also be included in this network in the continuation of the line, and thus approximately 8 million more people will have direct access to the comfort of high-speed trains.”

26 Bridges and Viaducts Will Be Built Between Kırıkkale and Çorum

Minister Uraloğlu stated that the 200-kilometer section between Delice and Çorum, designed for a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, will include 8 bored tunnels, 26 bridges and viaducts, 16 overpasses and 84 underpasses, and also stated that a siding will be built in Alacahöyük.

Uraloğlu added that 5 stations will be built within the scope of the line: Delice Passenger and Freight Station, Sungurlu OSB-Freight Station, Sungurlu Passenger Station, Çorum Freight Station and Çorum Passenger Station.

Travel Time Between Ankara and Samsun Will Drop to 2,5 Hours

Minister Uraloğlu stated that with the completion of the Delice-Çorum and the planned 173-kilometer Çorum-Merzifon-Samsun sections, the travel time between Ankara and Samsun will decrease to 2,5 hours, and said, “We aim to transport 12 million passengers and 14 million tons of freight annually on the line between Ankara and Samsun.”
