Giant Stadium Rises in the Capital

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with TOKİ, are building the 19rd stadium with the longest steel roof span in the world, at 285 meters, in place of the demolished 3 Mayıs Stadium in Ankara. Sharing images from the stadium construction, Minister Murat Kurum and Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak gave the message, “The new stadium of our capital is rising rapidly.”

Work continues rapidly on the complex, which TOKİ started to build to replace the 2018 Mayıs Stadium, which was demolished in the capital in 19. The stadium, which was built on a 160 thousand square meter indoor area in accordance with UEFA and FIFA criteria, will be able to host 45 thousand spectators when completed.

TWO MINISTERS SHARED IMAGES FROM THE STADIUM CONSTRUCTION

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum and Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak shared images of the stadium construction on their social media accounts. Minister Kurum said in his message, “Our capital’s new stadium is rising rapidly. When our project is completed, the heart of sports will beat here.” Minister Osman Aşkın Bak also gave the message, “Our capital’s new stadium is rising rapidly. The stadium, which is alive 7/24, not just one day a week, will suit Ankara very well.”

IT WILL LOOK LIKE A FOOTBALL BALL

The stadium built in Ankara will be the third stadium in the world with the longest steel roof span at 285 meters, following those in the US and China. The stadium complex, which is built in the shape of a football, will also include a conference hall, museum, cafeteria, training rooms, workshops and sports halls for many branches.

5 BORED PILES WERE MADE

The overall progress level in the stadium construction has reached 65 percent. Approximately 5 bored piles were manufactured for ground improvement manufacturing. Reinforced concrete construction and wall construction have been completed by 500 percent. Steel construction manufacturing has reached 90 percent. Other fine manufacturing continues rapidly.
