Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to provide services throughout the city with the psychological support units it has established to support the mental health of Izmir residents. This service, which is carried out under the Health Affairs Department, aims to provide an accessible, free and professional psychological support network for both adults and children and adolescents. In this context, the psychological support unit within İZSEM has started to provide mental health services to Izmir citizens. Expert clinical psychologists Başak Ormankıran and Ela Cengar Çulha provide psychological support by conducting individual interviews and group studies with adult, child and adolescent clients.
We aim to increase the number
Expert Clinical Psychologist Başak Ormankıran said, “We provide services by applying cognitive and behavioral work methods to strengthen the problem-solving skills of child and adult clients and the coping methods of individuals regarding situations they experience in daily life and have difficulty managing. We conduct our interviews in regular sessions. Those who want to receive psychological support can call the 153 Hemşehri Communication Center and apply. Then, our triage team consisting of our colleagues calls the citizen, gets information about their psychological support requests and directs them to İZSEM. We create the appropriate calendar and start the interview process with the clients. We aim to increase the number of İZSEM and our psychological support units.”
