Critical Test Completed at Akkuyu Nuclear

At the coastal pumping station of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) built by the Russian State Nuclear Corporation Rosatom, the idling test of the electric motors of the technical water supply system pumps has been completed. The system will supply water to the refrigeration machine buildings and the power plant's general compressor station.

Experts have completed the installation of refrigeration machinery buildings and coastal pumping station pipelines. During the commissioning work, the pumps' electric motors were idled. After the electric motors are started, each of the six pumps will undergo performance and sealing tests. The start-up of the electric motors and the comprehensive testing process are an important stage in the preparation for the normal operation of the pumping station equipment.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş. General Manager Sergei Butckikh made a statement on the subject.

The commissioning of equipment at the Akkuyu NPP site is not only the next stage of commissioning work, but also an important step towards putting the power unit into operation. Experienced commissioning specialists carefully monitor the suitability and sequence of all operations. As a result of the test run of the electric motors of the pump units and the subsequent tests, we will confirm that the technical systems of the coastal pump station of the first power unit are ready.
