China-US Economic Talks Begin in London

The first meeting between China and the United States within the scope of the economic and trade negotiations mechanism was held in London on June 9-10.

The meeting was attended by Li Chenggang, Deputy Minister and Chief Negotiator of International Trade of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Following the talks, Li stated that professional, rational, in-depth and sincere communication was established between the two sides.

Li Chenggang said that the consensus reached by the Chinese and US leaders in their telephone conversation on June 5 was to establish a basic framework for the implementation of the agreements previously reached in Geneva.

"The progress made in London will contribute to the strengthening of mutual trust in China-US relations and the healthy and stable development of economic and trade ties. At the same time, this development will provide a positive impetus to global economic growth," Li said.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the progress made in London included the agreements reached in Geneva and the consensus reached in the telephone conversation between the Chinese and US leaders on June 5.
