ASELSAN received an A+ grade in all areas in which it was evaluated, and entered the BIST Sustainability 25 Index, which is managed by Borsa Istanbul (BIST) and includes companies that best meet sustainability criteria, in first place.
ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol said, “We see sustainability as a priority value in all our activities and focus on the way we do business. We do not see our sustainability efforts as limited to the contribution we provide to our own activities, we evaluate it as a development process in which we move towards our goals by creating awareness in our value chain with the leadership we have assumed.”
ASELSAN CEO Akyol stated that sustainability is one of their strategic priorities and continued as follows:
“We have created our roadmap within the framework of our 2021 net zero emission target, which is of key importance in our environmental sustainability studies and which we took in 2050. With our sustainability approach focused on the environment and people, we prioritize our holistic sustainability approach in our operations and strategy in order to leave a more livable world for future generations. Since 2021, we have been evaluating sustainability at the corporate level and determining our strategy with our risk and opportunity analysis. We address sustainability at the senior management level, analyze our present and plan our future using an integrated strategy. We are proud of ASELSAN’s performance and its inclusion in the BIST Sustainability 25 Index.”
Corporate Sustainability
Corporate Sustainability is the adaptation of economic, environmental and social factors to corporate activities and decision-making mechanisms together with corporate governance principles in order to create long-term value in companies and the management of risks that may arise from these issues. BIST Sustainability Index has been calculated since November 4, 2014 as a platform that guides companies in the process of creating policies regarding environmental, social and corporate governance risks of stock exchanges and conveys information regarding sustainability policies of companies to responsible investors. Sustainability indexes reveal how companies approach issues such as global warming, depletion of natural resources, depletion of water resources, health, security and employment, and enable independent evaluation of their activities and decisions. ASELSAN achieved the best results in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) areas in which it was evaluated to be included in the BIST Sustainability 25 Index.
