Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) organized the 2024-2025 Academic Year End of Year Festival for students staying in IMM dormitories and completing their university education. At the event held at Bayrampaşa Hidayet Türkoğlu Sports Complex, IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan met with the young people.
Aslan is the elected Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem İmamoğluHe began his speech by conveying the greetings of the youth to the youth. “Our President Ekrem has attached great importance to the youth and education since he took office in 2019. Despite the injustices he experienced during this process, he received the greatest support from the youth. After the unlawful cancellation of his diploma and the great injustice experienced on March 19, the youth of our country stood tall behind him. We are grateful to you. In such a period when hope was tried to be lost, you gave this country great hope and strength,” he said.
Providing information about IMM's dormitory services, Aslan stated that the number of dormitories belonging to IMM, which was zero in 2019, has reached 14 as of today. “We opened our first dormitories in Avcılar and Beyoğlu in 2021. Currently, a total of 8 dormitories, 6 for girls and 14 for boys, are serving with 1291 rooms and 5819 bed capacity. Kadıköy Two new girls' dormitories under construction in Şişli will be put into service in September. Kadıköy “87 students will stay in our dormitory in Caferağa and 327 students will stay in our dormitory in Şişli. Thus, our total capacity will reach 6.233.”
WE MOBILIZED OUR OPPORTUNITIES
Aslan, who also touched upon the education support provided by IMM for young people, said, “In this period when housing costs are increasing, we have mobilized all our resources to ensure that our students live in safe and comfortable environments. We provide free education support to students preparing for LGS and YKS in our Lesson Workshops. The foundations of these services Ekrem İmamoğlu's 2014 Beylikdüzü Mayoral period. This vision developed in the place where light and hope are born. We support our students with question banks, trial exams and other materials. Our workshops also offer a study environment, library and computer-aided research opportunities outside of school hours. During the preference period, we support our students with our guidance services.”

Sharing the steps taken against technological inequalities, Aslan said, “Thanks to the IMM Technology Workshops, our students receive 8 months of comprehensive training in many areas such as programming, artificial intelligence, game development, mobile applications, and robotics. The national and international successes of the IMM Tech Team, which consists of our students trained in these workshops, make us proud.”
“İMAMOGLU’S HOPE IS HERE”
Addressing the students and families at the end of his speech, Aslan said, “If we have touched the life of even one student, it means we have done our job right. The young people here today, Ekrem İmamoğlu's vision for Istanbul and Turkey are the most concrete indicators. Although our President is currently in Silivri, his love, greetings and hope are here, with you. Hope is here, growing from Istanbul.
