4th International Mediterranean Literature Days Concluded in Bodrum

The International Mediterranean Literature Days, organized for the fourth time this year with the cooperation of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Bodrum Municipality and Livaneli Foundation, brought together literature and art lovers in Bodrum.

The first day of the event began with opening speeches by Coastal Aegean Municipalities Union and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, artist Müjdat Gezen and Zülfü Livaneli. The unifying power of literature was emphasized in the speeches. Then, a short film featuring Türkan Şoray was shown, the day ended with a solo performance by Pınar Seli and a concert by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra.

On the second day, the opening speeches were made by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci and Şule Bucak. Following the speeches, a short film about Filiz Akın's life was presented to the audience. CHP Muğla Deputy Süreyya Öneş Derici, CHP Bodrum District Chairman Tuna Işın, Ardahan Mayor Faruk Demir, İlker Başbuğ, Aylin Livaneli, Şule Bucak, Barış Atay, Evanthia Reboutsika, Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, Türkan Şoray, Zülfü Livaneli, Tilbe Saran, Nefeli Oikonomou Pantzou and Prof. Dr. Onur Bilge Kula attended the program.

The cinema section, which started with the screening of the film “They Will Kill the Snake”, attracted great attention. Immediately after the screening, two great names from the world of literature and cinema, Zülfü Livaneli and Türkan Şoray, held a conversation with the audience.

In his closing speech at the 4th Mediterranean Literature Days, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras emphasized that the event not only enhances art but also peace, freedom and social solidarity, and said:

“This adventure that we started 4 years ago continues this year. The Mediterranean is our common culture. The Mediterranean is a place where peace, democracy, human rights and civilizations meet. That is why we started the Mediterranean Literature Days event. We will use the power of words and images in the most powerful way to put this country back on the bright path of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. This event, which we continue to build on every year, is very valuable to us. As Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, we will always continue to stand by art and artists.”
