Greece Approves 13 Armored Vehicle Donations to Lebanon

Greece has approved the grant of 13 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to the Lebanese Armed Forces in order to deepen cooperation between Athens and Beirut in the face of increasing regional instability. The transfer of the M113 type vehicles, which will be provided from the Greek Land Forces inventory, will take place within the scope of the expansion of military cooperation between the two countries.

M113 APCs Join Lebanese Army’s Inventory

The Greek Parliament has accepted the request for M113 armored personnel carriers, submitted by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. These vehicles will be procured from the existing inventory of the Greek Land Forces. After the necessary maintenance is completed, Greece will deliver 13 APCs to Lebanon. This grant is considered an important step towards increasing the capacity of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Part of a Long-Term Collaboration

This transfer of vehicles is based on negotiations that began with Lebanese President Aoun, when he was Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, before he became President. The delivery is part of a broader agreement between Athens and Beirut aimed at the restructuring and reorganization of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The current cooperation is not limited to vehicle donations only; Staff training It is planned to increase the scope of the training of Lebanese officers in military institutions such as the Greek Military Academy and the Naval Academy in the coming period.
