Energy Savings Achieved with Train Driving Methods
This award-winning project, implemented within the TCDD Transportation Izmir Regional Directorate, involves the drivers using scientific methods to save energy, driving methods, and operating trains safely and with minimal energy consumption without interrupting their journeys. With this project, which was first implemented on 54 trains operating in the Izmir Region, it was determined that the methods applied provided 10% energy savings as a result of field tests. Following the training provided to the drivers, the project, which was put into practice in 2024, saved 270 thousand liters of fuel and prevented 748 tons of carbon emissions that are harmful to the environment.
“Our Journey to the Best Will Continue”
Drawing attention to the importance of producing similar projects, General Manager Ufuk Yalçın said, “Our goal is to implement this project, whose success has been proven, in all our trains and to produce similar projects in other areas. From now on, our journey towards the good, the better and ultimately the best will continue.”
