
The Ödemiş Meat Integrated Facility, operated by İZTARIM, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, continues to offer quality and affordable meat products to citizens in and around İzmir. The facility, which is an important supporter of local producers in the Küçük Menderes basin, contributes to the regional economy by slaughtering an average of 120 cattle per day and also brings healthy meat to the tables of the people of İzmir. The meat, obtained entirely from local livestock, is packaged under hygienic conditions and offered to the public through İZMAR stores.
Ödemiş Meat Integrated Facility is Operating at Full Capacity
İZTARIM General Manager Öztürk Kurt stated that production continued smoothly after the revision made at the Ödemiş Meat Integrated Facility. Kurt stated that the facility has the equipment to meet the needs of the local people and that only large animals are currently slaughtered. Kurt, who said that an average of 100 to 120 large animals are slaughtered daily, said, “We also buy live animals for our markets and slaughter them there. Then we distribute them to İZMARs.” In this way, animals purchased from local producers are directly processed and offered to the consumption of the people of İzmir.
Health and Hygiene at the Forefront
Öztürk Kurt, who emphasized that the facility attaches great importance to hygiene standards, stated that all slaughtered animals are processed after undergoing health checks. Kurt said, “There is no possibility of any diseased or unearthed animal entering our facility. After our employees and physicians perform the necessary checks, our animals are sent to slaughter. Again, they are packaged under the most hygienic conditions and placed on market shelves.” This meticulous process ensures that meat products that the people of İzmir can safely consume are obtained.
Safe Food is the Priority of the People
Öztürk Kurt, who said that İZTARIM continues its activities in line with President Dr. Cemil Tugay’s goal of providing Izmir residents with safe food, stated that İZTARIM has undertaken an important mission in this period when economic conditions are getting tougher. Kurt said, “In these days when economic figures are rising a lot, the best thing we can do is to buy live animals, slaughter and prepare them with our own means, and deliver them to our people without adding any profit. The most fundamental issue for us is not cheapness, but safety. We work to deliver healthy and safe meat to our people.” This approach shows that İZTARIM is not just a commercial enterprise, but acts with a sense of social responsibility.
Affordable Meat Sales in IZMARs
Meat products prepared entirely from local livestock by İZTARIM at Ödemiş Meat Integrated Facility continue to meet with the people of İzmir at the branches of İZMAR, the new generation social solidarity market of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Currently, ground beef is offered for sale at affordable prices such as 575 TL and beef cubed for 650 TL. In addition to ground beef and cubed meat, expert butchers working within İZTARIM process carcass meats, package them under hygienic conditions and offer them to the people of İzmir. İZMAR markets aim to provide citizens with access to basic needs below market prices. In addition to İZTARIM's meat and dairy products, these markets also offer water, bread and other basic food and cleaning products provided from reliable suppliers. While the first İZMAR branches were opened in Karabağlar Bozyaka and Menemen Ulukent, it is planned that Halkın Bakkalı's Gaziemir, Çamdibi and Balıkçılar branches will also be put into service as İZMAR in the coming days. This expansion aims to provide more Izmir residents with access to healthy, reliable and affordable food.
