WHO: 1.4 Billion People Are Living Healthier

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced significant progress in health worldwide, with 431 million more people now having access to essential health services without incurring catastrophic costs, thanks to a strengthened health workforce, improvements in hypertension and contraception services, and increased access to HIV treatment.

WHO also said that 637 million more people are better protected against health emergencies thanks to strengthened pandemic preparedness, early diagnosis and equitable access to epidemic response measures.

Some of the most notable developments have been in the fight against tobacco use, improving air quality and expanding access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services. WHO announced that 1.4 billion people are living healthier lives thanks to these efforts. This figure has exceeded the organization’s target of 1 billion.
