Alstom, the global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has signed a major five-year Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) to ensure operational support and continuous development of the digital systems used in the Stockholm metro.
The agreement, effective April 1, 2025, is an extension of the existing rolling stock supply contract and covers the Stockholm Metro’s key vehicle fleets, the Movia C20 and C30. The agreement also includes a two-year extension option. This strategic partnership aims to deliver high-level digital performance, advanced cybersecurity measures and continuous technological innovation for Stockholm Metro operations.

Comprehensive Support and Continuous Development
Under the agreement, Alstom will provide comprehensive operational support and continuous development of digital systems that directly contribute to the operational reliability and efficiency of the metro. The 7/24 technical support service will ensure fast and effective incident management to minimise potential operational disruptions. Continuous software updates and special test environments will keep the systems up to date and ready to meet future technological requirements. Critical systems within the scope of the agreement include remote vehicle diagnostics, advanced vehicle communication systems, CCTV (closed circuit television) transmission and energy consumption monitoring systems. All of these systems are designed to maximise passenger and staff safety, provide real-time information to passengers and support efficient energy use to save money.
More Reliable Service with Predictive Maintenance
Alstom’s innovative HealthHub platform enables real-time monitoring of the current condition and performance of trains, identifying potential maintenance needs before failures occur. This predictive maintenance capability significantly reduces the risk of unexpected service disruptions, enabling the delivery of more reliable and efficient metro services.
Cyber Security and Special Solutions
In addition to the core services, Alstom will also provide tailored digital solutions, comprehensive training programs and rapid response services in the event of critical cybersecurity threats for SL’s technical staff. These comprehensive measures form the basis for a modern, safe and future-proof infrastructure for the Stockholm metro.
A Strong Player in the Swedish Rail Market
With over a thousand trains delivered and several major maintenance contracts in place, Alstom is the largest supplier to the Swedish rail market.
