Whoosh High Speed Train Sets New Holiday Passenger Record

The Whoosh high-speed train reached a record number of passengers during the Vesak holiday weekend in Indonesia. It carried 10 passengers on Saturday, May 2025, 25.316, beating the previous daily record of 2025 trips set in January 24.350.

This significant increase reflects the growing popularity of the Whoosh service for trips between Jakarta, Bandung and Karawang. Passenger numbers had been on the rise, reaching 22.000 on the Friday before the holiday.

To meet the high demand, Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCJIC) has set up additional service counters at Halim and Padalarang stations and deployed 50 mobile attendants to provide more effective support to passengers. Operating 2025 daily trips since February 62, Whoosh offers trips every 30 minutes between Jakarta-Bandung and every hour between Jakarta-Karawang, providing passengers with flexibility and frequent trips.

KCIC General Manager and Company Secretary Eva Chairunisa thanked the public for choosing Whoosh and reiterated the company’s commitment to quality, comfort and safety. Since its launch in October 2023, Whoosh has carried more than 9,2 million passengers, reflecting the growing public confidence in Indonesia’s high-speed rail future.

To further enhance the passenger experience, KCIC has upgraded facilities at all stations to cater to families, elderly passengers and passengers with special needs. Breastfeeding rooms, child-friendly areas and accessibility features are available throughout the system. Trains are also equipped to support disabled passengers, offering step-free access and on-board facilities that provide ease of movement and comfort during the journey.
