Türkiye Builds New Bridges with China in Trade and Transportation

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu met with Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Liu Wei. Minister Uraloğlu noted that they discussed how to develop transport and trade between the two countries and announced that they assigned a representative to provide direct communication. Uraloğlu said, “With the mechanism that will provide communication, we will have the opportunity to solve the problems that arise more quickly.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a series of contacts during his visit to the People's Republic of China. Minister Uraloğlu, who evaluated his visit to China, stated that Turkey and China were the two important points of global transport corridors. He stated that they discussed how to develop the Middle Corridor in terms of transport, trade and production within the scope of the 3-day program.

Uraloğlu, who recalled that they attended the 9th Silk Road International Forum in Xi'an on the first day of the program and then met with the Governor of Shaanxi Province and the Secretary General of Xi'an City Municipality, said, "We evaluated how transportation could be carried out from Xi'an, which is a logistics base, to Europe and the north of Africa via Turkey, and how we could develop our relations."

Logistics Distribution Center Türkiye

On the second day, Minister Uraloğlu met with two technology companies and reminded them that the companies in question were already doing business in Türkiye, primarily in the GSM and technology fields. Uraloğlu stated that issues related to technology production in Türkiye and the establishment of R&D centers were discussed.

Uraloğlu stated that one of the companies had established an R&D center and that there were studies regarding the continuation, and said, “At the same time, we have had contacts regarding Türkiye becoming a logistics distribution center in the geography where we are located on behalf of these companies. I must say that we have made positive developments. We will definitely be following them closely.”

Uraloğlu Meets with Chinese Transport Minister Liu Wei

Uraloğlu, who met with the Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China Liu Wei on the third day of the program, stated that they discussed the four modes of transport: road, railway, air and maritime. Uraloğlu said, "We discussed how we can develop transport and trade together with our delegations."

Minister Uraloğlu, who stated that they held consultations to further develop the highway, also stated that they discussed the problems experienced at customs. Uraloğlu stated that they established contact with the private sector in Türkiye regarding the operation of block trains on the railway.

Direct Contact Will Be Established

Minister Uraloğlu, who stated that they assigned a person to provide direct communication between Turkey and China, said, “With the mechanism that will provide communication, we will have the opportunity to solve the problems that arise more quickly. Therefore, we will quickly do our part in terms of transportation to develop relations between the two countries.”
