In Sakarya, which is preparing to become the second metrobus city in Türkiye, the Metropolitan Municipality continues an intensive work tempo to implement the 19,5-kilometer metrobus line that will serve between the City Hospital and the Train Station Square. The Metropolitan Municipality, which covered the entire cost of the project with its own resources, started laying hot asphalt on the first stage of the 4-kilometer line that was completed.
Superstructure Works Started in 9 Kilometer Area
Preparations for the superstructure work on the important 9-kilometer section of the Metrobus line between Camili Junction and Yazlık Junction are progressing rapidly. While hot asphalt paving is being carried out with 4 construction machines and a 40-person expert team in the completed 50-kilometer first stage, excavation and filling work are being carried out simultaneously in the second stage, which is 5 kilometers. After the completion of the infrastructure work in the second stage, asphalt paving will begin in this section without wasting any time.
President Alemdar Examined the Works on Site
Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar inspected the ongoing asphalt works on the metrobus line on site and received information about the latest status. During the inspections, Mayor Alemdar was accompanied by Secretary General Fikret Bayhan, assistant secretary generals and department heads. Seeing that the works were progressing rapidly, Mayor Alemdar thanked all personnel who contributed to the project.

Mayor Alemdar, who announced that a new era will begin in the field of transportation in Sakarya, said, “Our work on our metrobus line consisting of 19,5 kilometers and 13 stations continues uninterruptedly. While the construction of stops, infrastructure displacement works, bridge and culvert manufacturing continue, we are also paving the asphalt of the completed sections. The most important feature of this project is that every stage of the line, from infrastructure to superstructure, asphalt to engineering structures and stops, is being done with our Metropolitan Municipality’s own resources. There is sweat and labor of our Metropolitan Municipality in every square centimeter of this line. I sincerely thank all my colleagues for their diligent and devoted work. May God bless it.”
Metrobus Line Will Form Infrastructure of Rail System
Mayor Alemdar emphasized that Sakarya will be the second city in Türkiye to use the metrobus system after Istanbul with this important project. He also stated that the constructed metrobus line is planned to form the infrastructure of the future rail system. This visionary approach is considered an important investment for Sakarya's transportation future.
At the end of his speech, President Alemdar said, “We will continue to work with all our might to provide our citizens with fast, safe and economical travel opportunities and to connect the city center with the Yenikent region,” once again emphasizing the importance of the project. President Alemdar, who chatted with the employees one by one during the inspections and wished them well, also took a souvenir photo to commemorate the day. The metrobus line, which will bring a modern breath to Sakarya’s transportation, is expected to be completed and put into service in a short time.
