The “Mobile Cinema Truck” project, implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has brought the magic of the silver screen to every corner of Anatolia and has provided an unforgettable cinema experience to approximately 1 million viewers since the day it set off. Especially in 358 districts with limited access to movie theaters, 895 thousand children and their families had the opportunity to meet cinema thanks to this special truck.
Not Just a Movie, But a Cultural Meeting Point
The mobile cinema truck not only screened films at every point it went to, but also created a warm and friendly cultural meeting place for children and their families. The atmosphere created in the screening areas created unforgettable moments with the excitement and happiness on the faces of the young viewers who experienced cinema for the first time. This project once again revealed that cinema is not just a means of entertainment, but also an important art form that brings people together, supports cultural sharing and triggers imagination.
Meaningful Words from Cinema General Manager Birol Güven
Cinema General Manager Birol Güven emphasized their determination to make the silver screen more accessible, stating that the project encourages imagination and aims to further strengthen the strong bond between society and cinema. Güven stated that they carried the colors of cinema from the most remote villages of Anatolia to the city centers, and in his assessment of the journey of the traveling cinema truck, he said that the truck was welcomed with great enthusiasm in Tunceli after successful screenings in Ankara and Erzincan. Birol Güven’s meaningful words, “The excitement in the eyes of children is the greatest source of motivation for this journey,” were the best evidence that the project achieved its goal.
A Cultural Bridge Extending from the Capital to the East
The journey of the traveling cinema truck continues unabated this year. The film screenings held in Ankara’s Beypazarı, Nallıhan, Kızılcahamam, Çubuk and Kalecik districts throughout March attracted great interest from moviegoers. In April, the events held in Erzincan’s Refahiye, Kemah, İliç, Kemaliye, Üzümlü, Tercan, Otlukbeli and Çayırlı districts and in the city center were highly appreciated. The journey of the cinema truck, which has met with audiences in Pülümür, Pertek, Nazımiye and Mazgirt in Tunceli to date, will continue with screenings in Hozat, Çemişgezek, Ovacık and the city center until the end of May. The other stops of the traveling cinema truck, which introduces children who have never seen the silver screen to the magical world of cinema with free screenings, will be Elazığ, Şırnak, Hatay, Mersin, Çorum and Yozgat by the end of this year, respectively. This route clearly demonstrates the project's determination to reach every corner of Anatolia and ensure cultural equality.
The 7-Year Epic Adventure of the Traveling Curtain
This meaningful project, which was launched in 2018 in collaboration with the General Directorate of Cinema and the Art for the Road Culture and Art Association, traveled step by step to every corner of Türkiye for 7 years. With the specially equipped screening truck, which has a modern air-conditioning system and a capacity of 90 comfortable seats, 61 provinces and 358 districts have been reached to date, bringing the joy of cinema to distant lands. This impressive journey, which first started with 21 provinces and 60 districts, expanded over time and brought a total of 895 thousand people together with the magical atmosphere of cinema. With increasing interest every year, the project reached more than 2023 thousand viewers in 347 alone, reaching the highest participation. These figures clearly show how valuable and meaningful an event the traveling cinema truck is for the people of Anatolia. The project undertakes an important mission that not only screens movies, but also strengthens social ties, increases cultural interaction and especially enriches the imaginations of children.
