The Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish National Committee on Roads was held in Ankara

The 35th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Turkish National Committee on Roads, operating under the General Directorate of Highways, was successfully held in Ankara on Thursday, May 8, with the valuable participation of the General Director of Highways Ahmet Gülşen, Deputy General Directors and members of the Turkish National Committee on Roads.

Gülşen: “We have become a bridge connecting people and goals”

Recalling that the Turkish National Committee for Roads has undertaken important work in the 1990-year period since its establishment in 35, Highways Director General Ahmet Gülşen emphasized that road transportation should not be considered solely as an engineering issue. Gülşen stated that developments in this area should be addressed with a scientific, institutional and strategic approach, and that the committee continues its work with this understanding.

Gülşen, who stated that the committee produced important projects by bringing together the valuable academic knowledge of universities, the dynamic structure of the private sector and the deep-rooted experience of the public sector on the same platform, said, “Thanks to our committee, we have gone beyond connecting cities and have become a strong bridge connecting ideas, institutions, people and goals. The congresses, symposiums, panels, fairs and seminars that have been successfully organized to date are actually concrete reflections of this productive joint work. The 29 events held mean an environment of information sharing and cooperation almost every year, which is a clear expression of the continuity and determination of our committee.”

Holding the IRF World Congress in Türkiye is a Great Success

Emphasizing that the Turkish National Committee on Roads also plays an active and effective role in the international arena, General Manager Gülşen stated that the committee has succeeded in transferring its knowledge and experience in the field of highways both domestically and internationally. Gülşen underlined that Türkiye has taken on an active role in the highway sector and that the pulse of the world highway sector beats in Türkiye with the great success of the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress held in Istanbul last October. This important organization provided the opportunity for Türkiye to prove its competence in the field of highway engineering and transportation on the international platform once again.

Roads Turkish National Committee 2025 Awards Found Their Owners

Ahmet Gülşen emphasized that it is of great importance to add the book titled “Milestones of 75 Years”, published on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the General Directorate of Highways with the valuable contributions of the Turkish National Committee of Roads, to the institutional memory. Gülşen also stated that within the scope of the Turkish National Committee of Roads 2025 Awards, which are carried out in successful cooperation with universities every year, original and valuable studies in the field of highway engineering are encouraged. In this context, he announced that two doctoral theses, two master's theses and five papers were deemed worthy of awards. These awards aim to encourage young researchers and academics to conduct innovative studies in the field of highway transportation.
